Sigtuna is an amazing place for weddings. Here you will find fantastic castles, beautiful mansions and wonderful hotels that are perfect for your dream wedding. For those of you who are planning or considering a wedding in Sigtuna, here are my best tips on wedding venues.
Below I have listed my favorite wedding venues in Sigtuna.
Beautiful Sigtuna’s is located between Stockholm and Uppsala, just a few minutes drive from Arlanda. This makes the city the perfect place to host your wedding.
There are several nice venues for weddings, regardless of whether you want a church or civil wedding. Central in Sigtuna is the beautiful medieval St. Mary’s Church, Sigtuna Town Hall and three historic church ruins, one of which you can get married in.
Sigtuna was one of the three first established cities in Sweden and became the seat of the first Christian king, Olof Skötkonung, who was also the one who had the first Swedish coins manufactured. Between the 980s and the end of the 13th century, Sigtuna flourished as a royal, ecclesiastical and commercial center.
If you get married here, you will feel the wings of history and the incredibly picturesque city will definitely enchant your guests enchanted.
offers the opportunity to rent an entire castle for just you and your guests. If you do, you have full access to the whole premise and have the opportunity to make your own chooses when it comes to food, entertainment and staff. It is one of the few castles that can be used as a wedding venue where you can bring your own food and drink.
Wenngarn Castle has one of Europe’s best preserved castle chapels, perfect for indoor weddings. For those of you who prefer to get wed outdoors, there are several beautiful places around the castle, including the apple orchard where the trees bloom beautifully during the beginning of summer.
The banquette room holds 100 seated or about 200 mingling guests and the halls themselves are so beautiful that it needs no extra decoration.
In the castle there is room for 16 overnight guests, for more beds you can rent the Orangery which is adjacent to the castle park with 19 beds and the craft house with 13 rooms and 22 beds.

Sigtunastiftelsen is a wonderful place for weddings and perhaps the closest to Italy you can come without leaving Arlanda. The Sigtunastiftelsen is reminiscent of an Italian monastery and was built in 1917 on a hill with a view of the entire city and bay of Sigtuna. At the top of the tower room you can enjoy a drink and look out over the nice little town.
There are three fantastic places for marriage at Sigtunastiftelsen
1. The Olaus Petri Chapel, which is located directly adjacent to rose garden, is a nice little chapel with white walls, beautiful light and bare but tasteful decor. The floor is in red brick and the benches in darker wood. The chapel can accommodate up to 120 guests and there is an organ, a piano and a very good music system that can be used during the wedding.
2. The rose garden, which is framed by colonnades and really brings to mind a monastery in Italy. In the middle, the water is bubbling from the fountain and all around are the showy red roses. The rose garden is well suited for civil weddings and is a perfect place for mingling.
3. The open-air church is just as it sounds an outdoor church and in it you can get wed with either a church ceremony or a civil ceremony. In beautiful weather in the summer, it is a very good place for weddings, but many autumn and winter weddings have also been held here. It is a very nice place that gives you the freedom to decorate how you want, and here there is also plenty of space for many guests.
The wedding dinner can be served in one of the beautiful dining rooms with their fantastic floors, located right next to the Italian-inspired main building.
In the main building, both the bride and groom and guests sleep well – the guest rooms are individually decorated with their very own character.
